My work is based on photos, visions, and abstraction. The photo based work is a manipulation of various recognizable images from family portraits to armed conflicts. The visionary work usually involves finding images during the process of painting that form a narrative. The abstract work contains non specific references to figure and landscape.

I draw inspiration from the old masters and the modernists of the last century, as well as current artists working today. I use observation of things in the world as well as images which seem to develop on the canvas in the process of creating. The methods I use are varied, but some of the ways in which the painting is developed produces images that I didn't think of but rather were found there in the studio, in the shadows; or spun in the webs of the spiders which share the studio with me. For the viewer, these varied paintings tell a story through history, landscape, and stream of conscious.
